Josh Brolin Was Irritated By A Certain Levity While Working With Denis Villeneuve
Josh Brolinand Emily Blunt starred in Denis Villeneuve’s 2015 crime thrillerSicario. He played the role of Matt Graver, a charismatic CIA officer who manipulates Blunt’s character and has a hidden agenda behind his involvement on the mission with her. Working on the film was a unique one for Brolin as he felt irritated by the levity of his character.
Villeneuve’s treatment of Brolin’s character was full of levity and charm that he fully relished it while performing on set. But as he reveals, he felt irritated by everything off-set whenever he finished playing the character for the day. Brolin toldHitFix,

“That whole feeling of like, people said, ‘you looked like you were having fun in the movie’. And I was like ‘I was irritated in Albuquerque’ and I think it was because of that levity. There was so much levity on it, that I was irritated off the set.
I was irritated by Albuquerque. I was irritated by I don’t know what. Then I’d get to the set and the levity was there. And I’m like ‘Where can I find a moment to like lift’ And it was like heavy lifting. It felt like heavy lifting.”

Brolin also expressed his amazement at how well the film turned out and praised Villeneuve for his awareness of how to approach the material and his meticulous execution of the film. The film was a commercial success and is considered one of Villeneuve’s best works.

Dune: Part 2Will be a Pure Cinematic Pleasure According to Denis Villeneuve
The firstDuneintroduced audiences to the world of Arrakis and the two warring houses Atreides and Harkonnen. While the film proved to be an origin story for Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides, it laid the foundation for a big confrontation in the sequel. He expressed how he had so much fun making the first part and reuniting with the crew again for a second film would be a paradise for him. He said,
“I will say that it’s going to be an insane playground for me. It’s going to be just like pure cinematic pleasure for the second part. I don’t want to speak for everybody on the team, but I will say that we really created on this movie a feeling of family and to re-unify everybody again together, that would be paradise.”
The sequel was supposed to be released this year but was postponed due to the Hollywood strikes. The film will now release on July 11, 2025.
