In the light of the overwhelming triumph of his latest masterpiece,Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan disclosed his desire to direct aJames Bondfilm. After captivating audiences worldwide with the 2023 summer blockbuster, the filmmaker sparked curiosity among fans, when he expressed his interest in working with 007, during his interview with Josh Horowitz on theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast.
Acknowledging the significant impact that theJames Bondfilms had on his own filmography,Christopher Nolanconfessed his love for Ian Fleming’s work. And certainly, Nolan’s admiration for the franchise is undeniable, considering how the essence of 007 is deeply woven into his work.

“The influence of those movies on my filmography is embarrassingly apparent. And so, there’s no attempt to shy away from that. I love the films, and you know, it would be an amazing privilege to do one.”
Teasing fans with his desire to direct a James Bond movie, Christopher Nolan also stated that it would be a unique challenge for him. Since his distinct filmmaking style that focuses on realism diverges from the traditional flair of the Bond movies, Nolan believes it might be challenging for him. But, the director is considerably interested, no matter what.

The filmmaker has been expressing his desire since 2012, and thus, addressing Nolan’s desire, Morgan Freeman was asked about his opinion on the same. During his interview withThe Guardian,Freeman stated that would never question the filmmaker’s decision, whatsoever.
Previously working with Nolan in theBatmantrilogy, the actor claimed that he believes that the director is halfway there. Appearing as Bruce Wayne’s father-surrogate, alongside Michael Caine’s Alfred,Morgan Freeman‘s role as Lucius Fox, CEO of Wayne Enterprises led him to believe that his character is just like Q in theJames Bondseries. Finding uncanny similarities, Freeman shared that Christopher Nolan is not wrong to express his decision to direct a 007 film.
