Writing a long story is a tedious yet enjoyable task for the writer. But is it an enjoyable experience for the viewers to watch? Will the show make an excellent recommendation for someone who wants to watch something new? With several characters, relationships, a neatly weaved story is worth the watch. However, sometimes too many elements can complicate the execution of the story. Now, anime such as One Piece is surely interesting but its long story can make some viewers get lost in the plot. Here are 5 anime that are too long to watch.

Anime Detective Conan

Detective Conan

Yes, this popular anime has made it to this list. To explain in brief, Detective Conan is all about a high schooler turning into a child to solve crimes. The concept is unique, however, after 99 volumes of mange since 1994 and 1,020 episodes anime episodes since 1996, it has gone stale.

The stories have become formulaic and there is nothing innovative left about the story. Therefore, this anime is not worth the recommendation.

Anime D Gray Man

D.Gray Man

Allen Walker, a young exorcist, and his adventures as a Black Order member! This is the storyline for the manga and anime. It is very intriguing indeed but is too long to never get an ending. The anime ran from 2006 to 2008 with 103 episodes. The anime was revived in 2016 with a new title, “D.Gray Man Hallow”. It has 13 additional episodes.

The reason the show has made to this list is that the manga author, Katsuro Hashino had to suspend writing due to health reasons. This affected the production of the anime and it ended up using a lot of filler stories without a proper ending.

Anime Inuyasha

If you have heard about anime, you would have heard about One Piece. It is one of the most popular anime shows. However, it is also the longest and hence not a good recommendation for someone who is looking to watch something new.

The manga is running from 1997 with 99 volumes and 1,008 chapters. The anime started in 1999 and will finish season 20 in October 2021. It has 995 episodes and quite a few episodes are just fillers. The author has said that the manga will end soon, however, we don’t see an end yet.

This action-packed and funny anime is a staple for a lot of people. The show follows Kagome, who falls down a well and is taken centuries back. This is where she frees a cursed half-demon and begins a quest to save Japan.

However, the anime has pacing problems. Inuyasha covered 36 volumes with 167 episodes from 2000 to 2004. Whereas, Inuyasha: The Final Act covered the remaining volumes till the end with 26 episodes. On one hand, The Final Act has 1.3 episodes a volume, Inuyasha had 4.5 episodes a volume. Too slow and long!

This anime has gotten creative over the years. However, it has lost its meaning and uses unusual tactics to remain relevant. The overall franchise has 1018 episodes with four movies making it far too long and repetitive.

And it doesn’t seem to have an end!
