Henry Cavill’s departure from Netflix’sThe Witcherrocked the fans. However, gradually, fans started to speculate the reason behind Cavill’s exit. Many theorized that he left because he wanted the show to closely follow the books written by Andrzej Sapkowski. However, showrunner Lauren Hissrich and her writers’ room were seemingly only interested in presenting their version of Geralt’s story. Fans have also accused the writers of trying to shoehorn in their personal experiences in the show.

The WitcherWriters Put Personal Events In The Show
Youtuber LegacyKillaHD expressed his frustration withThe Witcherwriters not following Andrzej Sapkowski’s books and instead veering off track to do what they want with the show. The host said:
“They (fans) wanted Sapkowski’s writing to be brought to the screen… that’s all Cavill wanted, that’s why he even bought into this show, that’s what he was promised, that’s what we were all promised by Lauren Hissrich the showrunner, we weren’t looking for their personal opinions or writing, we wanted to see a faithful adaptation of the books.”

But fans aren’t convinced and they want her and her writers to leave the show amidst rumors of the upcoming season 3 disrespecting the books like the previous one. However, there has been no response from Netflix regarding this controversy and as such it doesn’t look like the streaming giant is taking any action at the moment even thoughThe Witcheris one of the biggest IPs currently with the platform.
Fans speculate that Netflix will only notice if season 3’s viewership drops and season 4, starring Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia performs poorly as per their metrics as well. As such, it remains to be seen how audiences react to season 3 of the show.
The Witcherseason 3 will release in the summer of 2023.
