The onslaught of newStar Warsprojects excited fans around the world, and there’s nothing like getting new content from a long-time-running franchise that shaped our generation. The announcement of upcoming movies and TV series was held during theStar Wars Celebrationin London, but before that, another project was already brewing in the headquarters.

Taika Waititi, known for his work on Marvel Studios’Thor: Love and Thunder, revealed last year that he has been working on aStar Warsscript. Fast forward to today, the director has not finished the draft and admits he struggles to conceive ideas.

Taika Waititi Still Lacks Middle Part Of The UpcomingStar WarsMovie
Speaking withThe New York Timeslast year,Taika Waititisaid he is trying to come up with a newStar Warsconcept that he hopes would get approved by the board:
“I’m trying to write the ‘Star Wars’ idea at the moment. I’ve got to see how that goes, because once I submit it, that might determine when it gets made or if it gets made, even.”

LucasfilmPresident Kathleen Kennedy confirmed toEmpire Magazine(viar/StarWarsLeaks) that the movie is still pushing through, although it might take a little while as Waititi is working very slowly:
“Taika is working away. He’s just, and he won’t get mad at me for saying this, slow. We’ve got a couple of acts, we need a third.”

The latest update on the upcomingStar Warsproject saw the filmmaker struggling to complete the script because the middle part is still lacking (viaThe Hollywood Reporter):
“I’ve got a really good idea for it. It’s just as with all films, it’s this middle part. You’re like, ‘What’s going to happen?’ And then you look at all of those films that are so great, you’re like, ‘Well, I guess they can’t meet some smuggler with an alien sidekick.’”

Soon after, Waititi admitted the project was not entirely his top priority at the moment, as he would like to hang out with his wife and take a few days off:
“For the most part, I would like to take a few holidays and go and follow Rita around. Just be her little tour toy boy, and hang out with her, and just watch her perform and get her a cup of tea backstage.”
As Taika Waititi is also working on his ever-growing list of undertakings, fans should not expect the script would be finished anytime soon.
