Racebending and race-swapping characters are no new concepts in Hollywood. After the increasing and rightful demand of diversity within the industry, the concept of rebending was introduced and Idris Elba became one of the most iconic characters because of it. Within the superhero world, there have been various characters who have been race-bended before.
Some fans appreciate the change while others dislike it heavily. Either way, there is a big number of such characters. Some of them are even heavily loved, such as Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury. Although it is not a new thing, both the hate and support for the same have been long and ongoing as well. It would seem like another hero has been race bent.

Sasheer Zamata Gets Cast As A Sorcerer After Idris Elba’s Character
There have been many characters within the superhero genre that have been race-bended in the past. From Nick Fury toIdris Elba’sHeimdall; there have been many successful and unsuccessful of the same. Even though there would be constant hate at the beginning, many fans ease up to the idea once they see the characters in the play. The latest addition to racebending happens to be part ofAgatha: Coven of Chaos.
Sasheer Zamata has been cast as Jennifer Kale in the series and fans have a mixture of opinions about the same. The sorceress has been tied with various superheroes throughout the comics, even being part of the X-Force once. She has worked with The Thing and even had a big part to play in theSecret Invasioncomics. Although she is not as powerful as many other superheroes, her role has been significant enough to leave a mark. Zamata will be taking up the role in Katheryn Hahn’s upcoming series. However, fans are unsure about whether or not racebending was a good idea.

Fans Are Upset With Sasheer Zamata’s Casting
Fans are upset about Sasheer Zamata becoming Jennifer Kale. If diversity is really a goal for the project, then getting characters that are already people of color would be more impactful than having to change their race altogether. Fans are unhappy with the casting and have been demanding that the actress gets recast.
The WandaVision spin-offs are an example to how Disney has mismanaged, overpromised and underdelivered Disney has been on making stuff since 2018.

This was the opportunity to introduce Topaz to a black witch who is Jennifer’s friend and teammate, who deserves much more recognition but as always, Marvel forgets that he has black characters, and Jennifer is supposed to be a witch, she will be in her twenty

Many are even saying that Marvel is diverting from its original goal of bringing quality content and is instead bringing whatever the fans are demanding out of them. The casting could very well be taken positively once they see the actress in action. However, the majority of the fans are unhappy at the moment.
Agatha: Coven of Chaoswill be available to watch on Disney+ from 2024.
