Fans are gearing up for the much-awaited sequelSpider-Man: Across the Spider-Versethat will swing into theaters in the coming weeks. In earlier interviews, guests who were invited to see a cut of the film likened it toStar Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back.
Most early reactions have been positive, and the artists behind the project are confident that the franchise will emerge victorious at the box office and eventually become its own “Empire.” The movie’s director also teased fans with an important detail: the ending will be a cliffhanger.

Across the Spider-VerseFinal Scene Will Shock Fans As Per Director
In an interview withSFX MagazineviaGamesRadar,Spider-Verseco-director Kemp Powers revealed:
“Across The Spider-Verse is a movie on its own, but it definitely ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. I think it’s a good cliffhanger. We hope that it’s a satisfying tee-up for what’s coming in the third film because you want people to be excited about what’s coming next.”
Because of the outpour of love for the franchise, a third installment has been secured.Beyond The Spider-Verseis expected to hit theaters next year. Powers added:
“And it helps that we knew going in that this was part two of a three-part story. Since you already know that that third story is guaranteed, you may tackle it a bit differently. That being said, there’s a lot of key characters in this film, and there’s a story in this film that has an arc of its own that we needed to complete.”
Co-director Joaquim Dos Santos confirmed that the movie is indeed inspired by theStar Warsfranchise. He said:
“I was very satisfied after The Empire Strikes Back, and hopefully, this is our Empire.”
This comparison is already giving fans a hint on what to expect when they take their seats at the theaters. It might happen that it won’t end very well for Miles Morales and his friends, but of course, there will always be the possibility of a twist.

Spider-VerseProducers Discuss The “Many Worlds” In The Film
Aside from the insane twist ending,Across the Spider-Versewill also tease many worlds which our hero will visit throughout his journey in the movie. Producer Christopher Miller toldEmpire:
“The two that you saw in the teaser trailer were what’s called Earth-50101, which we’re calling ‘Mumbattan’ – that’s based on an Indian comic-book look – and Nueva York from Spider-Man 2099’s world. That’s based on Syd Mead-style illustrations of what the future might look like. There’s also Gwen’s world, which is Earth-65.”
Another fellow producer Phil Lord explained the animation process and inspiration for the film:
“The first film had one animation style that dominates the movie. This movie has six. So, we’re taking those tools, adding all the things we learned on The Mitchells Vs The Machines, and then growing them further to accommodate the ambition of this movie.”
He also pointed out that the methods they used, aimed to impress the viewers, as well as reflect the story through emotions conveyed using different art styles.
